George Mawuli Akpandjar received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Mississippi a.k.a. Ole Miss. His specializations include applied econometrics and microeconomics. He was employed by Bank of America Corporation immediately after graduation as a Quantitative Operations Associate. He was part of the response and valuation modeling team, developing models for first home mortgage products. He also developed a price metric to measure Bank of America Corporation’s competitiveness in the Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) market.
He conducts research in housing economics, microfinance, labor economics and development economics. His paper “The effect of homeownership on unemployment: Outcomes and implications” won the Barry M. Moriarty best graduate paper award at the 2015 conference of the Southern Regional Science Association . He is currently working on other projects.
He has taught Economics Statistics, Business Statistics, Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics as a sole instructor while he was a graduate student at the University of Mississippi.
